This novel has been a labour of love! I wanted to go next level in my storytelling and worked hard to deliver a novel that was not only entertaining but multi-layered - full of twists and turns, populated with spirited characters, and steeped in secrets.
I felt that in a year where a lot of us have been left feeling a bit ‘blah!’ we needed something to sweep us all away. I felt transported to another place when I wrote the story and it’s my greatest wish you feel that too as you read!
My lovely fellow historical fiction writer, Natasha Lester, predicted that The Masterpiece will be ‘One of the big books of the year’. So don’t wait a second longer to go get you pretty paws on it and start reading!
Details below:
A wartime betrayal, a race against time ... and a secret hidden in a painting.
The must-read new novel from the author of The French Agent and White Gardenia.
Paris 1946: A young woman, Eve Archer, has come to Paris to find Serge Lavertu, the father she never knew. But before Eve can find the courage to tell him who she is, Serge is arrested, accused of selling a French national treasure to Hitler during the war and murdering the original owner. Could Serge truly be guilty of treason or has he been set up?
Only one person knows the truth that might save Serge from execution: Kristina Belova, a beautiful Russian artist recently returned from a concentration camp and suffering amnesia. As Eve desperately prompts Kristina to recall what happened during the war, she uncovers a passionate love triangle and a secret about her own heritage that will change Eve's view of life forever.
'The Masterpiece is a triumph of storytelling. Its descriptions are painterly and its characters fascinating. With Paris, art, spirited women and so many tantalising secrets hiding in its pages, The Masterpiece is certain to be one of the big books of the year'
— Natasha Lester, New York Times bestselling author of The Three Lives of Alix St Pierre
'Belinda Alexandra is a master at keeping the pages turning'
— Herald Sun
'Alexandra excels at creating compelling female characters and placing them in richly imagined settings'

Things I am Loving This Spring
While getting ready for The Masterpiece tour, I’m actually quite deep into my next novel which is set in Italy in Pompeii, Positano, Naples, Florence and Rome.
Here are some pictures from my storyboard:

The new season of Emily in Paris
Yes, it’s a little cheesy and sometimes culturally inappropriate – but I LOVE the fashions and all the characters and their foibles. It always uplifts me to watch it.

This book makes me laugh so hard that I scare my cats!
