Thank you for sharing the questions you ask yourself about books. I recently bought a reading journal that I haven't started. Reading your article made me realise it's because I'm not deep diving into the book. Thank you for the inspiration !
I loved what you said about deep thinking. I'm usually so busy moving onto the next thing but the art that I LOVE makes me do this. Also, the image of you sounding like a kid ringing a bell on a bicycle makes me HOWL with laughter. xx
The first rhythm you learn with the zills is 'cup-of-tea, cup-of-tea' alternating between your right and left hand. Which was fine when I wasn't doing anything else but when I started dancing and playing the zills 'cup-of-tea' turned into 'ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling' - so I very much sounded like a kid on bicycle!
I couldn't love this more! And nice work learning something new. Also, that could be put to use on footpaths when you need people to shift to the left.
As always, a wonderful newsletter Belinda! I completely agree with you about the importance of deep thinking. Books and all forms of art are to be savoured and not consumed. Xx
Thank you, Kyra. I appreciate that. A French friend of mine (of course he was French!) once told me that to truly appreciate a painting you needed to study it for at least an hour and then contemplate it again over several days. I joked that it would take a very long time for me to get through an exhibition if I did that. He replied that the idea of 'getting through' an exhibition was the first issue to tackle. 'It's better to come and really see one painting than to merely look at a whole collection of them.' I thought it was a good lesson for other aspects of life too.
Thanks Belinda, a very good lesson indeed. I always shudder when I hear people have travelled to Europe and said they have 'done' particular countries as if it is something to be conquered or checked off as opposed to appreciated and experienced. Clearly you and I see eye to eye on this!

Indeed! Looking forward to our chat with Nicole Alexander next month. XX
I'm going to discuss deep thinking with Raffy today. So important.
I'd love to hear his take on it!
